Robot mowers, specs checked

The right robot for your lawn, with the specs checked.

Measure your lawn, check your slope, and see which robot mowers on sale in the UK are rated to cover it, with every spec taken from the manufacturer and dated. Wire, RTK, vision or LiDAR: we explain the trade-offs plainly.

We haven't tested these mowers; we compare published specs and independent sources.

Which robot mower fits my lawn?

Worked example

For a 450 m² garden in 2 zones joined by a 0.9 m side passage, a steepest slope of 25%, some trees near the edge and no boundary wire wanted:

  • Navigation that suits it: Camera vision, LiDAR, Hybrid.
  • Look for a model rated for at least 540 m² (your lawn plus our 20% headroom), at least 25% slope, multi-zone support and a body narrower than 0.9 m.
  • Matching UK models appear here as each one is checked against the manufacturer's UK page.

Our wildlife-safe mowing pledge

We only ever suggest daylight mowing, never from dusk to dawn, when hedgehogs are out. Our schedules start after sunrise and finish before sunset. We never rate wildlife safety ourselves: we cite the published research instead.
