How we work
We haven't tested these mowers; we compare published specs and independent sources. Here's exactly how.
Specs
Every spec comes from the manufacturer's official UK product page, spec sheet or official feed, with the link and the date we checked it. A spec without a source isn't shown. Specs are the manufacturer's claims for good conditions, and we say so. See the tracker methodology for the detail.
Our rules of thumb
Where we add our own judgement, we label it:
- Headroom: we look for a mower rated for at least a fifth more lawn than you have, because rated areas assume ideal conditions.
- Navigation fit: the wire vs wire-free decider scores each tech against your garden from its published limits. It's a guide, not a test result.
- Daylight window: schedules start after sunrise and finish before sunset, with a margin either side.
Lists and ranked pages
Every list says how it's sorted, and every "best" heading says what it's best at and on what evidence, for example "highest manufacturer-rated max slope, among models on sale in the UK, checked on a stated date". We don't give scores, star ratings or "winner" badges.
Prices
Prices come only from official brand stores or official affiliate feeds, with the date we checked them. Prices change. No fake discounts and no countdowns.
Calculations
The maths in each tool is shown on its page. Slopes are always shown in both % and degrees, and areas in m² first.
